From 1908 to present day...
Founded in 1908 as Lee on the Solent Lawn Tennis Club, our original location on the seafront consisted of two grass courts. Since then, a continuous policy of development has included the move in 1919 to a purpose built clubhouse and courts at our present location.
Later, the grass courts were changed to clay and, more recently, to all-season surfaces with floodlighting.
During the 1930s, squash was introduced, thought to be the first courts in the area. During a major refurbishment and extension in 1978 the present international-standard courts were built.
Recent investment has also seen the introduction of our comprehensively equipped Health and Fitness Suite, which, in turn, has seen another boost to our membership figures.
So here we are now - a club with 21st Century facilities backed by 100 years of tradition and success! |
